After watching a couple scenes from The Guardian starring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner, I noticed a few powerful messages and themes.


Ashton displayed acta of confidence, dedication, and compassion. To some, his attitude and perspective may come off as arrogant or cocky but to others, he is simply is aware of his strengths. Throughout the clips, he was tested by not only his own mentality but that of his superiors, placed in stressful situations, forced to learn about himself and world around him.


Lessons from the movies such as being compassionate, learning from others and expand your perspective of the world can be applied to real life situations and encounters. Everyone might not have the same values and beliefs as you but that does not mean you dont have anything in common with that person or that you cannot learn from their experience and story. If you are confident about your place in the world and society, there is no reason to be opposed to other perspectives and morals.

Throughout this marketing plan, I will be creating vision, mission and value statements to build a base for a strategy to promote my professional career development. In order to do so, I must analyze my skills, attributes and weaknesses and apply them to my self marketing mix. I intend to promote not only what skills I can contribute to future employers, colleagues and partners but also how my skills will apply to real life situations and problems.


With tools and exercises such as conducting:


Market research,

SWOT analysis,

Self-assessments,

Setting objectives, strategies, segmentations

Applying the four P's (Product, Placement, Price, Promotion)


These sources of information will allow me to evaluate many characteristics of myself and the world around me that I may or may have not know. I believe after completing myself marketing plan and reflecting on the data and evaluation, I will be able to apply many concepts and strategies to platforms such as LinkedIn, Handshake and other networking sites. Overall, I have thoughts and intentions of building this marketing scheme to promote and network myself to be affluent in future career opportunities.

Today we have begin to dive in to visions, missions and values that companies hold in order to support its organization and the ambitions the customers, partners and employees.


Statements that contribute to company culture:


Vision: What an organization inspires to achieve, become and provide.


Mission: Who an organization is, plans to become, how it plans to do so and the people it will serve. Also, the goals and ambitions of the firm.


Values: What practice and ethics the company has in place and why.


These three statements will all correlate and compliment one another and combined will describe the state and direction an organization is in and the what it plans to achieve. One of my favorite mission statements has to be Patagonia, a textile firm out of California. This company has made it clear they plan to offer high quality products and contribute to saving the environment at the same time. This brand is very popular among outdoor enthusiasts due to the shared values and common interest in preserving the land we live in today.
